When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity to recommend a business like yours, they get a few names back, not a page of links. Backbone Studios does the work that decides whether yours is one of them.
I'm Jessica, and I run Backbone Studios out of Wayne. I work with small business owners across Radnor Township, the Main Line and Greater Philadelphia, currently in baking, health care, food service and the trades.
Marketing and AI Visibility in Wayne, PA: Work With Backbone Studios
Most of the owners I work with are not short on skill. They are short on visibility. Someone who would have happily hired them asks Google, or increasingly asks an AI chatbot, and a different name comes back.
Two things changed at once. Google started answering questions on the results page instead of only listing links, and a lot of people stopped going to Google first. They ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity, get three names, and pick one.
Your business either gets named in that answer or it does not exist in that moment. That is the problem I work on, and Wayne is where I do it from.
Our Services
AI Visibility Audit
A full diagnostic of how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity currently see your business, which competitors are coming up instead of you, and a prioritized list of what to fix first. $497 flat, delivered in five business days. Most Wayne and Main Line owners start here.
AI Visibility Setup
The one time build: structured data, your Google Business Profile, the first round of content and citations, and tracking stood up so you can watch it move instead of taking my word for it.
AI Visibility Maintenance
The monthly engine that keeps a business found and cited once the foundation is in place. Content, profile activity, citations and measurement, on a schedule.
Generative Engine Optimization
Getting your business named in the answers AI assistants give when someone asks for a recommendation in your category. If you want the longer explanation, I wrote one: what generative engine optimization actually is.
Google Business Profile Optimization
Completing and tuning the profile that decides whether you appear for near me searches across Radnor Township and the surrounding Main Line towns. This is the fastest and cheapest local visibility work there is, and most businesses have it half finished.
AI Systems Builds
When the bottleneck is operational rather than visibility, I build systems instead: intake, follow up, scheduling, documentation and knowledge bases. More detail on the systems page.
A Rich History and Vibrant Community
Wayne was originally called Cleaver's Landing, and was later renamed Wayne Station after General Anthony Wayne. Banker J.H. Askin bought 293 acres here and built a mansion he called Louella after his daughters. In 1880 his estate and the ground around it were bought by banker A.J. Drexel and newspaper editor G.W. Childs, who developed it as the Wayne Estate. That development is the reason the streets here look the way they do.
The Downtown Wayne Historic District was designated in 2012, alongside the North Wayne and South Wayne historic districts. The result is a walkable commercial core that has kept its buildings, surrounded by residential blocks that were laid out well over a century ago.
For a small business owner, that history has a practical edge. Wayne is a place where people still shop, eat and hire close to home, and where word of mouth travels. The gap is that word of mouth no longer reaches the person who opens ChatGPT instead of asking a neighbor.
Neighborhoods and Streets
Wayne's central business district sits at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Wayne Avenue, in Radnor Township, Delaware County. The community is unincorporated and does not stop at a township line: it extends into Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County, which is why a business in Wayne often serves customers across three counties without ever leaving the Main Line.
Radnor Township itself holds a set of distinct communities that most Wayne businesses already serve:
- St. Davids
- Strafford
- Villanova
- Rosemont
- Garrett Hill
- Ithan
- North Wayne
- South Wayne

Lancaster Avenue is the spine of all of it. It runs east and west through the township and connects Wayne directly to Devon, Berwyn and Paoli going west, and to Villanova, Bryn Mawr, Haverford, Ardmore and Narberth going east.
Wayne, PA Points of Interest
A few of the places that anchor the area:
- Chanticleer Garden. A public garden in Wayne, and one of the best known destinations in the township.
- The Wayne Hotel. A landmark on Lancaster Avenue in the middle of the downtown district.
- The Anthony Wayne Theater. The art deco movie house on West Lancaster Avenue, closed since 2020 and now being restored by a local nonprofit that aims to reopen it for films, live performance and talks.
- Valley Forge Military College. Located in the township.
- The Downtown Wayne Historic District. Designated in 2012, covering the commercial center.
These matter for more than character. When someone asks an AI assistant for a business near a named place, the businesses that have written honestly about where they work are the ones that come up.
Local Economy and Development in Wayne, PA
Wayne is not only residential. Teleflex, Kenexa and DLL Group's U.S. operation are all headquartered here, which puts a significant corporate presence inside a small commercial district.
Across Radnor Township, the largest employers are Villanova University with 3,438 employees, the Radnor Township School District with 933, and Lincoln Financial with 641. The township's population is roughly 31,875.
What that mix produces is a local market with real spending power and a dense field of small service businesses competing for it. Being good is not enough here, because so is everyone else. Being the name that comes up first is what moves work.
Transportation and Accessibility
Wayne is well connected for a town its size, which is part of why the service area stretches so far in every direction.
- U.S. Route 30 runs east and west through the township along Lancaster Avenue.
- Interstate 476, the Blue Route, runs north and south through Radnor Township.
- Pennsylvania Route 320 also crosses the area.
- SEPTA Regional Rail serves Wayne on the Paoli/Thorndale Line, with stations at Wayne, St. Davids and Strafford.
- The Norristown High Speed Line has seven stations inside Radnor Township, including Bryn Mawr, Garrett Hill and Villanova.
Work is done remotely or at your place of business, so getting to me is never the question. Getting found is.

Why Choose Backbone Studios for Your Wayne, PA Business
Most marketing help in this area is still selling you a higher position on a results page. That work still matters, and it is not the whole job any more. A growing share of buyers never see a results page, because they asked an assistant and took the answer.
I measure where you stand across the major AI platforms first, so there is a real before-picture. Then the work is built against what your buyers actually search, not against the words you use for your own products. And it is tracked, so you can see whether it moved.
I run a small studio, not an agency floor. You work with me.
Ask ChatGPT to recommend a business like yours in Wayne or on the Main Line, and see what comes back. Whatever it says is your starting line.
Frequently asked questions
In my case, the work is getting your business found and recommended: your Google Business Profile, content that answers real buyer questions, structured data, and mentions from other people. When the bottleneck is operational rather than visibility, I build systems for the back end instead.
No. Wayne is home and the Main Line is the core service area, and local businesses are a good fit because local questions are exactly where AI search tends to name a small business. Current clients are spread wider than that, and the work is done remotely.
AI visibility is whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity name your business when someone asks for a recommendation in your category. It matters most for small businesses, because a narrow, local, specifically worded question is where AI search recommends a real local company instead of a national brand.
The AI Visibility Audit is $497 flat. Ongoing work is quoted after the audit, once there is a real list of what your business needs, rather than guessed at beforehand.
Faster than traditional search work, slower than anyone wants. Google Business Profile work can show up in weeks. Content and authority work builds over months. Anyone promising you overnight results is selling something.
Yes, for local clients. Backbone Studios is a service area business with no storefront, so meetings happen at your place of business or somewhere convenient in Wayne, and everything else runs remotely.
